Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse (2018)
I always see a few animated films each year, and they tend to be high quality since they are targeting both youngsters and their parents, and Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse is no exception.
The Spider-Man films have always been some of my favorite Marvel movies since they are action-based, light on world-saving, and heavy on comedy. Spider-Verse’s action seems like it is taken directly from the comic pages and released into a medium that can showcase the artist’s true intentions. The action is kaleidoscopic and frenetic, but never overwhelms, and is so well matched with the high concept storyline you realize this is the only way this story could be told.
Usually, Spider-Man is the wise cracking hero who uses his fast-moving mouth to distract the overconfident bad guy, but with SPOILER (multiple Spider-Mans from multiple universes) the wise cracking rises in relation to the action and allows the film to smoothly move along at a breakneck speed. The voice actors are amazing and really deliver both humor and drama.
Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse is fun, funny, and exciting, and if you are like me you will want to watch it multiple times. Available now to stream on Netflix.
